A year on - our guesthouse nears completion

It is hard to believe that it is still not even a year since we took the big decision to start out on this journey, and now we are nearly ready to welcome our first guests.
Building is hard during the rainy season. So during that time we focussed on collecting the materials needed for the final big push. To complete the facilities block and kit out the interior.
We have finished plastering the outside of the building - it now has to dry before we can paint it. And the same for the inside.
The facilities block will have a shower and two flushing toilets, with the water provided by the waterwell we dug and powered by our solar system. It will be connected to the main building by a covered walkway, making it safe at night and protected from the weather.
Along the way we have made some adaptations, including upgrading the kitchen and we plan to provide a solar-powered fridge.
All through this we are keeping true to our goal. To provide an eco guesthouse that matches our forest environment but to make sure that our guests can have a comfortable visit with us.

Below you can see how our guesthouse is as we enter the final building stages, and the building of the walkway.
